Jim Gerwien is the President for Extant Aerospace. Mr. Gerwien has more than 29 years of aerospace industry experience in a wide variety of businesses and executive leadership roles. Prior to founding Extant, Mr. Gerwien was President of BBA Aviation's Legacy Support Division with responsibility for the company's Ontic Engineering and Manufacturing business unit, where he had previously served as President from 2002 to 2008. He began his aerospace career with General Electric in 1982 and held a number of executive leadership positions within the company. He later served as Business Unit Manager for Vickers Fluid Power, a division of Eaton Aerospace in Jackson, Mississippi. Mr. Gerwien holds a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BSME from the University of Connecticut.
Rick Schmidt is the Vice President of Business Development for Extant Aerospace, responsible for leading all of Extant’s strategic planning, corporate development, and product line acquisition and licensing initiatives. Mr. Schmidt has more than 30 years of Aerospace and Defense industry experience. Most recently, he served as VP of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) for Rockwell Collins where he was responsible for leading all aspects of acquisition, divestiture, joint venture, and business development initiatives. Rick served in roles of increasing responsibility and leadership for Collins over the course of his career including Engineering Services Manager, Sr Director of Strategy Development in both Commercial and Government Systems and VP of Corporate Development. During his tenure in M&A, he led or supported more than 25 strategic transactions. Schmidt earned Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Iowa.
Chad Dixon is the Business Unit Controller for Extant Aerospace. Prior to joining Extant, Chad was the Controller of Illinois Tool Works’ Dynatec business, where he led Finance and IT teams across US, Europe, and Asia. With a strong international background throughout his career, Chad has held similar roles at the Fiat Group and Imerys. Chad completed his MBA at ie Business School in Madrid, Spain, and holds a dual-degree BA in Economics and Italian Studies from the University of Pennsylvania. He speaks English, Italian, French and Spanish.
Charles Mitchell is the Head of Operations for Extant Aerospace. Mr. Mitchell spent 10 years at the Harris Corporation in varying technical and leadership roles supporting multiple commercial and military platforms. Before joining Extant, Mr. Mitchell was the Director of Operations for the Harris Corporation within the Electronics Systems segment responsible for the management of multiple factories across the United States spanning a large breath of technologies: Avionics Electronics, Commercial Electronics, Ground Based Antenna Systems, Radar Systems, and Composite Structures. Mr. Mitchell is a graduate from Auburn University with both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering.
Thomas Deasy is the Head of Business Management, leading the Sales/Program Management and Customer Support functions. Before joining Extant, Mr. Deasy was the Principal Operations Manager at Rockwell Collins, where he exhibited a strong focus on development and execution of Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement strategies, to include mentoring and project leader roles for significant improvement in business processes related to customer quality, margin expansion, and internal cost improvements/controls. Mr. Deasy is a 1995 graduate from Flagler College, B.A.; 2007 graduate from Villanova University, Master’s, Lean Six Sigma; and 2013 graduate from Breakthrough Management Group, Master Black Belt Development Program, Lean Six Sigma.
Jamerio Vinson is the Head of Quality for Extant Aerospace. His experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing Systems, Quality Assurance, FAA, EASA and other international aviation regulatory agencies, and Customer Service provide an expansion of Extant’s quality knowledge base and capabilities. He is accustomed to interfacing with the FAA and foreign certification agencies, managing a diverse workforce situated between multiple locations and maintaining responsibility over compliance, internal and external quality systems and supplier quality. Mr. Vinson holds a B.S. in Manufacturing Systems Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, an M.S. in Operations/Enterprise Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, a Certification in Lean Manufacturing from the University of Michigan and additional certifications through the American Society for Quality and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Mark Phillips is the Head of Human Resources for Extant Aerospace. After working more than 25 years in a variety of high tech industries to include aerospace, semiconductor and telecommunications, Mr. Phillips brought a wealth of human resources experience to Extant. Before joining Extant, Mr. Phillips completed a short term consulting role with a.i. solutions at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, where he worked to help build their executive leadership team. Prior to that he spent 10 years with TriQuint Semiconductor as Human Resources Director helping grow the business through a tremendous expansion cycle. Mr. Phillips holds a Master’s Degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Florida.
Randy Davidson is the Head of Information Technology for Extant Aerospace.  Mr. Davidson has over 25 years experience in a variety of industries including healthcare, education, banking and manufacturing.  He has been with Extant Aerospace since 2014.  Immediately preceding Extant he was the Vice President/Information Technology for Texas Financial Bank.  He is a veteran of the United States Air Force specializing in CS and OSI.  Mr. Davidson holds a B.S. Computer Science/Criminal Justice from Texas Tech.  He is a private pilot and married with two children.
