We Keep Legacy Aerospace Electronics in Service
Extant's strategic focus is supporting OEMs and their customers by licensing and acquiring non-core and legacy aerospace products, sustaining them in the marketplace with proactive obsolescence management and aftermarket support services.
Structured Solutions for Lasting Aftermarket Support
Our licensing and acquisition transactions provide a high-quality solution to the challenges that accompany continuing aftermarket support of these systems and components, enabling OEMs to focus their resources on current products and new research and development.
Extant's business model provides upfront cash for the purchase of related intellectual property, inventory, and assets, as well as an ongoing royalty income stream for licensed products manufactured and sold post-license and transition.
Six Decades of Electronics Engineering
Founding & Early Years
Founded as Symetrics Engineering Corp. in Brevard County, Florida, providing build-to-print services of complex electronic systems for government and defense. Renamed Symetrics Industries Inc. in 1970, producing aircraft and maritime antennas, control units, and military training devices.
Transformation & Rebranding
Symetrics Industries was purchased by Extant Components Group, later becoming Extant Aerospace, marking the beginning of the transition into a mature aerospace products licensing and acquisition company. In 2012 Extant completed its first license: the IIDS from Esterline.
Present Day
Since 2012, Extant has completed over 50 acquisitions and exclusive license agreements with primes including L3Harris, Collins Aerospace, and GE, producing, repairing, and supporting over 10,000 part numbers across commercial aerospace and defense platforms.
Expansion
Extant is entering its next phase of growth with the development of a new 376,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Florida. The expansion reflects the company's continued commitment to strengthening operations and creating new opportunities for innovation and long-term success across the aerospace and defense markets.
Extant is well positioned with both the technical expertise and capital resources needed to provide immediate value for non-core assets, a quick and successful product line transition, and a continued high level of aftermarket customer service and support.
